2012

2012 has bounced upon the scene with an enthusiastic, "Here I am!"  No easing into the new year for me -- noooooo.  With each new year come payroll tax returns, and sales tax returns, and W2's and 1099's and, "Oh, I thought I'd get organized this year.  Can you do my entire books for 2011?  By next Monday?"

I am blessed with so much work to do.  I cannot complain.  But I feel so overwhelmed sometimes.  People JUST DON'T GET IT!  "Oh, you mean I should have told you about that extra paycheck I took with my old payroll processor?"

"Ya think??"

Whoo... now that I've got that off my chest....

I've made a new friend here in Trinidad.  I call him Brutus.  He was so intimidating for the longest time.  Then I decided to try and make friends.  And he's the sweetest boy.  He's one of those sad creatures that is out in the yard on a chain.  I never see anyone pay any attention to him ever.  The first time I tried to talk to him he snarled and barked and made a huge fuss.  So I just turned my back on him until he calmed down.  Then he became curious.

Then he was afraid.  So after coming to talk to him for 3 or 4 days, he now knows that he can trust me and I usually bring treats.  He's my friend now.  He comes to the fence when I call him.  He offers me his muzzle or his ears to scratch.  His tail gently wags.

I can only reach 4 fingers through the chain-link fence, so I have no idea what his body mass is.  His coat looks pretty ratty and I  can't tell.  I just can't reach him.  So I'll just have to be content with scratching his muzzle and his ears, and gazing into his beautifully soulful eyes.
